PUGET SOUND

Puget Sound is a large inland waterway stretching from Olympia to Vancouver BC. It's teeming with wildlife, waterfowl, and fish. It's an important shipping lane to major NW ports. Mt. Baker in the distance.
I have kayaked over 400 miles in inlets, bays and harbors. The Puget sound is a wonderful water sports area.

TOASTMASTERS SPEECH CONTEST WINNER

TOASTMASTERS CONTEST WINNER
Toastmasters speech contests are a great way to hone your public speaking. Two years ago I never would have gotten in front of a group to speak. Toastmasters has taught me a lot.

ELFIS AND THE CAMERA

Gramps is always taking pictures of me. After he went to bed, I thought I'd try my hand at the camera. Whoa! It was heavy. I fell over and it pinned me to the table. Good thing Gramps heard all the racket. I'd still be squished under the camera.

SANTA'S HOUSE AT THE NORTH POLE

I went back to the North Pole to give a report to Santa. Lots of bad things happened this week. All the little kids were very good. Santa's sad that they have to suffer because of bad people running around. Hopefully all the good people will still have a merry Christmas regardless of the world's problems.

O CHRISTMAS TREE, O CHRISTMAS TREE!

We went shopping for poinsettias at the Christmas store. Oh what fun! I played hide and seek. The store clerks didn't think it was funny. We bought our flowers and left really quick.

RUDOLPH TAKES ELFIS FOR A SPIN

Elfis returned to the North Pole and visited Santa's reindeer. He hopped on Rudolph's back and they romped through the winter wonderland. Rudolph got some great practice for Christmas Eve. He didn't get off the ground, tho. He needs to lose some weight. (Like the rest of us.)

I turned 62 this year. Retired and loving it. One goal was to hike to Camp Muir on the south side of Mt. Rainier and Observation Rock on the north side. Accomplished them both. It may be the last time I make it to both as my knees are bothering me.

COSTA RICA

My son, Ben, and I traveled to Costa Rica in March. We stayed at the Volcano Lodge near the Arenal Volcano. We visited butterfly gardens, frog farms, and went on several eco-tours. The area is in  a cloud forest which differs from a rainforest because the moisture from clouds keeps it moist. We went to Tabacon Hot Springs for a day. A river flows out from the volcano at 105 degrees. It is in a steepsided valley filled with tropical trees and plants. It is the closest I've been to Eden.

BUZZED BEAR

I see it's been awhile since I've posted anything. My first book Alphasaurus Rax was published last June and my second Buzzed Bear just hit she shelves last week. It contains over a dozen short stories about black bear encounters in the Pacific NW. You can purchase it on Amazon.
